Steven D. Hokett, DDS, MCR
Dr. Steven D. Hokett is a 1983 graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School at San Antonio where he received a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Dr. Hokett completed a one-year general practice residency in 1984 and his periodontics residency in 1991; both while serving in the United States Army. He is a 1994 Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He served as the assistant director and director of the U.S. Army Periodontics Residency at Fort Gordon, Georgia from 1997–2003, whereupon he retired from the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He earned a Master of Clinical Research degree from the Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) in 2009.
Dr. Hokett is currently an assistant professor at the Post-Graduate Residency in Periodontics in the Department of Periodontology at the Oregon Health and Sciences University School of Dentistry, where he helps to train periodontal residents in surgery and with their research projects. Dr. Hokett is the author or co-author of 22 articles in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Periodontology, Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, General Dentistry, Journal of the American Dental Association, and the Journal of Oral Implantology. He is licensed to practice in Washington and Oregon. Professional memberships include the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, American Board of Periodontology, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Hokett has served annually as an examiner since 2012 for the American Board of Periodontology. Away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and teenage son as well as hiking, running and mountain climbing.
